Welcome
all fisho's to the inaugural Inner Hauraki Gulf
Gamefishing contest. This is the first of its
kind to be based inside the inner gulf.
The contest is open to all anglers whether you
belong to a club or not.
This contest aims to open up the world for gamefishing to all anglers that launch their boat in the surrounding Hauraki Gulf, whether you are experienced or this is the first time out trolling with plastic lures or baits.
The fish are in the Gulf, you just need a little patience and perseverance if you are targeting the larger gamefish (Marlin).
Last season the gulf was full of Skip Jack and Albacore Tuna right down to the Firth of Thames, so this would be a good start for the first-timers to hone their skills at catching the smaller tuna family with still great prizes for the biggest tuna in both categories.
To find the general area that the fish maybe in it is best to talk to your local Fishing Club, Sport Fishing Tackle outlet or Bait Shop, so ask the question if you are planning a day out, they would be more than willing to pass on advice or a contact that has knowledge of where the action is.
Prizegiving
Prizegiving will be held on Saturday 10th April 2010 at the Hibiscus Coast Boating Club (Stanmore Bay) at 7.00pm. Food and bar facilities will be available.
Prize Money Allocation
All money received will be allocated back to each of the categories less 10% to Child Cancer Foundation and after Contest expenses.
Prizes will be allocated to: the Marlin division 1st - 3rd place, Skip Jack Tuna 1st - 5th place and Albacore Tuna 1st - 5th place. Marlin section prizes will be double the Tuna section.
